Labels for every step of the line:

Direct thermal or thermal transfer?
It comes down to how long the print has to last, what it will face — and what your printer supports. Some printers run both; others are direct thermal only, so we confirm by model.
Direct thermal
- No ribbon — the label darkens under heat
- Shorter image life; heat, sun and friction fade it
- Shipping labels, pick tickets, short-term inventory
Thermal transfer
- Ink transferred from a wax, wax/resin or resin ribbon
- Longer, more resistant print — depends on material, ribbon and conditions
- Pallets, barcodes, assets, lumber, tires, outdoor

Frequently Asked Questions:
What's the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer labels?
Direct thermal labels darken where the printhead heats them, so no ribbon is needed — a common choice for shipping labels. Thermal transfer prints through a ribbon and generally resists heat, light, moisture and handling better; how well depends on the label material, the ribbon and the conditions.
Will your labels work with my printer?
Printers differ in maximum width, core size and whether they support thermal transfer at all. Send us the make and model (a photo of the model plate is fine) and we'll confirm the size, core, wind and ribbon.
How long will direct thermal labels last?
It depends on storage and exposure. Heat, sunlight, friction and some chemicals shorten image life, which is why direct thermal is usually chosen for labels that only need to last through shipping or short-term storage. For long-term or outdoor use we'll recommend thermal transfer.
Which labels hold up outdoors — lumber yards, tire racks, weather and UV?
Usually a synthetic label such as polypropylene or polyester, printed with a wax/resin or resin ribbon. Tell us what the label will face and we'll recommend a combination.
Can you print our logo, barcodes or sequential numbers?
Yes. Custom labels can carry your logo and colors plus variable data — barcodes, QR codes, serial numbers and batch codes. You'll approve a proof before we print.
Can I order labels online?
We don't run an online store. Request a quote with the form or call (636) 561-5600 and we'll reply with pricing and options. Existing customers can reorder supplies through Customer Login.
Do you work with businesses outside St. Louis?
Yes — we serve St. Louis and the surrounding area and ship labels to customers nationwide.
